Geranyl acetate is a widely used monoterpene ester that occurs naturally in various essential oils, including rose, geranium, lemongrass, and citronella, and can also be obtained through synthetic processes. It appears as a colorless to pale yellow, clear liquid and is characterized by a pleasant floral aroma with rosy sweetness, fruity nuances, and a fresh green note.
