Description

Geranylgeraniol is an acyclic diterpene alcohol with the formula C₂₀H₃₄O, appearing as a clear to pale yellow liquid with a complex floral, balsamic, sweet and woody scent profile. Biochemically, it serves as an intermediate in the mevalonate pathway, notably as a precursor to geranylgeranyl pyrophosphate (GGPP) used for protein prenylation.
