Description
p-Menthane-3,8-diol (PMD) is a naturally derived or semi-synthetic monoterpene diol, commonly obtained from lemon eucalyptus oil derivatives. It is widely recognized as an effective insect repellent, functioning by disrupting the olfactory receptors of mosquitoes and other biting insects, thereby preventing host detection.
Compared with conventional synthetic repellents, PMD offers advantages such as natural origin, pleasant fresh odor, and long-lasting repellency. It is extensively used in mosquito repellents, lotions, sprays, outdoor products, and personal protection formulations. Its minty and eucalyptus-like aroma also contributes to a cooling and comfortable sensory profile.
